About this programme
Period poverty remains a significant barrier to education and economic participation for girls and women across Kenya. Many girls miss school during menstruation due to lack of sanitary products, while women in low-income communities face similar challenges. Amiafam's Sanitary Towels Campaign distributes free, quality sanitary towels to schools, community centres, and informal settlements. Distribution drives are paired with menstrual health education sessions — covering hygiene, reproductive health, and reducing stigma. The campaign also advocates for long-term solutions including reusable pad programmes and policy change.
